About the project: One Man, Two Guvnors is a fast-paced British farce following Francis Henshall, a lovable, chaotic, perpetually hungry former musician who unexpectedly finds himself working for two bosses at once. As he tries to keep his two employers from discovering each other, a series of misunderstandings, disguises, audience interactions, and physical comedy lead to complete mayhem. Rate: All actors will receive a stipend. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. A strong British accent is required for all roles. Please bring a headshot and resume. All roles are available. Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming performers are welcome to audition for any role. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00 PM. Rehearsals are Sunday–Thursday, 7:00–9:30 PM. No rehearsals on December 23, 24, or 31. No more than 3 conflicts during the rehearsal period will be accepted. Absolutely no conflicts during tech week will be accepted. Tech week: January 17–21. A swaggering, upper-class criminal hiding from the police. Confident, dramatic, and completely in love with Rachel.
A local gangster and Pauline’s father. Tough and intimidating on the surface, but deeply protective of his daughter.
Charlie’s daughter and an aspiring actress hopelessly in love with Alan. Romantic, enthusiastic, and wonderfully naïve.
Pauline’s boyfriend and an aspiring actor who approaches everything with theatrical intensity.
Charlie’s sharp, confident bookkeeper. Smart, independent, and capable of keeping up with the chaos around her.
The owner of The Cricketers’ Arms and an old friend of Charlie. Warm, practical, and one of the few people who seems to understand what is happening.
Alan’s father and a somewhat pompous solicitor who takes great pride in his education and professional status.
The head waiter at The Cricketers’ Arms. Professional, proper, and increasingly surrounded by people who test his patience.
An elderly waiter with a talent for turning even the simplest task into complete chaos.
Ensemble performers will cover various minor roles throughout the production, including waiters, porters, police, taxi/bartender roles, and other characters as needed.
