Description:

Casting actors for "Room to Become" commercial/branded short film. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: Project type: commercial/branded short film. ~60-second hero spot with :30, :15, and :06 cutdowns, shot in 16:9 and 9:16 for paid media, social, connected TV, and web. Project description: a 60-second brand film for a national student housing company, set in a single apartment over the course of a school year, with limited dialogue. The story follows a college student through the everyday moments of living on their own with roommates. Over the year, an empty apartment becomes a home, and the student grows into a more confident version of themselves. The tone is grounded, observational, and warm. We want naturalistic performers who can carry a scene with small, true behavior (a pause, a look, a laugh that runs too long) instead of big acting. Rate: Flat rate per role, which includes the shoot day and a usage buyout in perpetuity (all media: paid, social, web, and connected TV). Meals provided on set. The Student: $350 The Roommate: $250 Friends: $200 each Additional info: All performers must be 18 or older. Directors are especially interested in hearing from local college film and theatre students. Non-union. Shoot: TBD, one day between October 13 and 21. The Student and Roommate are needed for the full day (up to 10 hours, including a meal break); the Friends for about three-quarters of the day. Location: TBD, in the Denver metro area. One apartment interior. Local hire only; no travel or lodging provided. When applying, please include self-tapes. Self-tape instructions: All roles use the same self-tape. Tell which role(s) you're interested in, and directors will cast from what they see. Keep it natural, and keep the whole tape under a minute. Phones are fine. Slate (about 10 sec): Your name, city, confirmation that you're 18 or older, and your availability for the shoot date. Quiet call (10–15 sec): You've had a rough day and you call home, but you don't want them to worry. Play only your side of the call. "Hey. No, nothing's wrong, I just hadn't talked to you in a couple days. … Yeah. It's good. It's fine. … No. I'm good. Love you too." Loud call (about 10 sec): Months later, you call the same person with great news from a packed room. "I did it — I actually did it! … Come over. To my place. Come celebrate." Send self tapes and any previous content you'd like reviewed.
