Seeking Cast for for Homelessness PSA
Casting call for homelessness NYC PSA. Actors needed. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. Rate: No compensation is provided for this project, but with future projects in the works, the company may be open to having a discussion regarding the given the circumstances at that juncture. However, snacks and beverages will be provided on set throughout the production day. Upon completion of post-production, actors will also receive designated edited footage featuring their performance, which may be used for their acting reel and professional portfolio. Additional info: Location(s): various parts of NYC but specifically in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens. Shoot dates: Tuesday Oct 20th & Wednesday Oct 21st. Time frame: actors/actresses/thespians should be expected to be on site for the majority of the day. Depending on which characters are being portrayed on screen, some, not all clothing articles will be provided to actors/actresses/thespians during shoot times. The teacher, Mid 40’s. A compassionate elementary-school teacher who pours everything into her students while becoming emotionally and financially depleted herself. She keeps showing up for everyone while quietly struggling. Theme: Who takes care of the person who is always taking care of everyone else?
The College Student, (Trans man). Smart and ambitious, but overwhelmed by society norms, school pressure, trying to fit in while also standing out and creating his own new identity and trying to find a new family within the trans and LGBT community. His support system from school begins disappearing. Theme: Escaping a problem can sometimes create another one.
The Entrepreneur. Once a confident and successful businesswoman. She gave too much of herself—money, time, energy and second chances—while allowing other people to continuously cross her boundaries. Eventually, she is the person who needs help.
The Contractor, Mid 30’s. Hardworking and proud of being able to build and repair things with his hands. After breaking his hand on a job, he catastrophizes: My career is over. My life is over. But we discover an old sketchbook filled with designs, revealing that he once dreamed of doing something more creative. He begins questioning whether this interruption might redirect him rather than define him. He lives around the corner from his job and showers at the gym.
The Healthcare Worker, 33. Works long hours caring for other people while quietly neglecting herself. Bills, exhaustion, housing instability and the emotional burden of constantly being needed accumulate until she reaches her breaking point. Theme: Being strong for everyone doesn't mean you never need help and can never ask for help.
The Aspiring Musician, 45. Andre gave up poetry after years of hearing that it wasn't a “real” career. He takes work that pays the bills but leaves him disconnected from himself. After a series of setbacks, Andre ends up on the street—but still carries the notebook where he once wrote songs.
