About the project: Synopsis: Set in present-day America, the story follows a young teenager who seeks shelter from a fight breaking out at a Black Lives Matter protest and ends up in an abandoned historical museum. There, the teenager is taken on a journey by well-known historical figures who share the history of Black America and the people who helped shape its progress. This original musical aims to bring people together and inspire positive change. Musical style: A blend of Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Jason Robert Brown, with urban Caribbean jazz influences. Rate: $75 per character. Additional info: - Paid staged reading performance of a revised original musical. - Seeking a diverse cast. - Video auditions only. - Prepare 16–32 bars of two musical theatre songs showcasing character and vocal range. - Callbacks will take place in person the following week.
