Casting Call for a Short Film "To Be Read"

LEAD. 5'2"-5'4". Needed both Oct 8 & 9. Multiracial/mixed with Black heritage Naturally curly hair Brown eyes Warm-toned Curvy/fuller build. A publishing-house editor lost in dark romance: beautiful, brilliant, quietly confident and a little nerdy. Her romanticized lens makes her miss obvious red flags. Dreamy but never awkward; her appeal is warm, soft and effortless.

LEAD. Mediterranean/Southern European Italian heritage preferred. Polished, well-groomed, naturally handsome Affluent, upper-class presence. Ivy's date: charming, funny, attentive and used to getting what he wants. He must be genuinely magnetic from the very first moment. As the story unfolds, that confidence turns intense, controlling and unsettling, with a quiet entitlement toward women carried beneath the surface. Requires excellent control of tone and fast, believable shifts.

LEAD. 5'3"-5'6". Asian or mixed Asian/White (mixed preferred). Medium brown hair, shoulder-length+, natural Soft features + Glasses a plus Ivy's best friend and partner in crime, and their chemistry is everything. Grounded, skeptical and perceptive, she's the "mom friend" who spots red flags first and protects fiercely. Underneath, a whimsical streak for astrology, star placements and all things celestial. Playful one moment, intensely serious the next when someone she loves is threatened.

LEAD. 6'2"+ (6'5"+ strongly preferred) Ethnicity open Tall, fit, athletic, not bulky. Striking and physically commanding, used to people deferring to him, until control is challenged and an insecurity underneath unravels into defensive, awkward frustration. Eyes are key: bright blue, green, hazel, heterochromia or otherwise distinctive. Tattoos (sleeves/neck) strongly preferred if production-cleared; otherwise a clean canvas for applied designs.

Supporting Role. Black or mixed with Black heritage + Well-groomed beard; salt-and-pepper welcome Fuller build welcome. Warm, jovial and quietly authoritative, with a "jolly Santa" warmth balanced with fine-dining polish. Soft-spoken, commands respect without raising his voice, and genuinely loves food and wine. Hospitality or sommelier experience a plus, not required.

Supporting Role. Mixed race~5'3"-5'4". Warm skin tone, brown eyes, naturally curly hair. Chatty, fun and a little nosy. She bonds with Ivy over the romance novel she's reading and loves knowing something others don't. Stylish without being overly polished; playful, mischievous, with strong comedic timing and expressive reactions.

Supporting Role. 5'7"+ (must read taller than Luca) Long brown or dirty-blonde hair + Blue eyes. Warm, observant and protective: a true girl's girl. Not the loudest in the room, but she notices more than people realize and communicates volumes through subtle reactions and body language. Believable in an upscale restaurant.

Supporting Role. Striking, feminine, polished. "Karen, but for good." Confident, compassionate and direct; nurturing without being matronly, and absolutely willing to make it her business to protect someone. Performers with disabilities and differently abled performers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Supporting Role. Mature, polished, authoritative. No-nonsense and impatient. He wants problems gone fast and the customer happy, even when that means failing his own staff. Dismissive and rude under pressure; controlled irritation, kept grounded and believable.
