"Private Lives" Audition for the Theater

About the project: A divorced couple, Amanda and Elyot, find themselves unwittingly thrown together in Noël Coward's classic comedy of manners. Unknowingly booking adjoining rooms while on honeymoon with their respective new spouses, they are forced to face their true feelings for each other. Realizing they have made a pair of mistaken marriages, they flee their honeymoon hotel under the cover of darkness in search of privacy at Amanda's secluded Paris flat. Despite their passion, they begin to bicker violently — just as they had during their marriage. When discovered by their jilted spouses, all four lovers must finally acknowledge who is really suited to whom. Additional info: Auditions consist of reading from the script. A two-minute monologue of choice is optional. Please bring a completed audition form and a small headshot. A theater resume may also be provided. A copy of the script is available upon request. Rehearsals begin November 16. Rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition to declare conflicts. Performance dates: January 15, 16, 22, 23 at 7:30PM and January 17, 23, 24 at 2:30PM. Charming, witty, impulsive, and fiercely independent. Amanda is intelligent and sophisticated, with a sharp tongue and a passionate nature. Her volatile relationship with Elyot drives much of the play's comedy and drama.
Handsome, charismatic, and quick-witted. Elyot is sophisticated and worldly but prone to jealousy and emotional outbursts. He shares a tumultuous romantic history with Amanda and remains deeply drawn to her.
Elyot's new wife. Attractive, refined, and somewhat naïve, Sibyl initially appears sweet and proper but gradually reveals a stronger, more assertive side as events unfold.
Amanda's new husband. Practical, dependable, and conventional, Victor struggles to understand the passionate and unpredictable nature of Amanda and Elyot's relationship. A solid comic role with moments of frustration and dignity.
A French maid. Efficient, observant, and quietly humorous. Though a smaller role, Louise provides comic relief and serves as an amused witness to the chaos surrounding the main characters.
