Singer Needed for Gig "School of Rock"
Casting performers for "School of Rock" show. See the breakdown below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Additional info: Walk-ins will be seen in the next available slot. Callbacks: Monday, October 19 at 7:00pm. Everyone: prepare a 32-bar cut (about 1:00–1:30 minutes) of a musical theatre or rock/pop song that fits the style of the show. Singing from the show is allowed. Bring a device with an instrumental-only track that can connect to a Bluetooth speaker. No a cappella auditions. Everyone: please bring a headshot and resume if available. All conflicts must be disclosed at the time of audition. If auditioning for the roles of Dewey, Zach, Lawrence, Katie, or Freddie, submit a 1-minute video of you playing your instrument (guitar/bass/drums/keys) before your scheduled audition. Be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals start November 22. Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7–10pm with alternating Saturday/Sunday 1:30–4:30pm. Not every actor will be called to every rehearsal. Onstage Guitar, Rock Tenor (B2-E5) Wannabe rockstar with big dreams. Historically a free loader, Dewey finds himself in urgent need of some cash after getting kicked out of his band. He impersonates a teacher to land a job at the prestigious Horace Green Prep School, where he turns his class of straight-A students into a rock group and enters them in the Battle of the Bands
Soprano (A3-D6) Proper and a bit uptight, Rosalie is the headmistress of Horace Green School, and seen as a figure of terror by the students. However, she cares deeply and doesn’t realize how her demeanor might seem cold. She has a secret love of rock music, and yearns to recapture the carefree spirit of her youth.
Baritone (C3-F#4) Ned is an old friend of Dewey's, and the two currently share an apartment with Ned's girlfriend, Patty. He used to play in Dewey's band, but is now a substitute teacher - who Dewey impersonates to get the job at Horace Green. Ned is still passionate about his music, but tends to let his bossy girlfriend Patty tell him what to do.
Mezzo-Soprano/Belter (B3-E5) Ned's domineering girlfriend, who lives with Ned and Dewey. She is extremely pragmatic and calls the shots in their relationship. She isn't too happy about Dewey's presence in their apartment - or his influence on Ned.
Teachers, parents, band members, and other featured adult characters who appear throughout the show in a variety of scenes. Most ensemble roles will be doubled or even tripled.
