But what if, on February 29th, the daughter you know vanished for one day—and something else took her place, wearing her face, yet still completely unrecognizable to the people who love her? LEAP DAY is a psychological horror short film exploring family, memory, grief, and the mysterious folklore surrounding children born on Leap Day. Additional information: Currently casting for a pivotal birthday scene at the emotional center of the film. The Scene: The family gathers to celebrate Grace’s birthday. A cake is prepared. Decorations are placed. The family comes together around the table. But despite everything appearing to be a birthday celebration, everyone is dressed in black. The atmosphere is quiet, solemn, and deeply uncomfortable. The scene intentionally blurs the line between a birthday and a funeral. Exploring that juxtaposition. What initially appears to be a celebration gradually begins to feel like a ceremony of mourning. The scene relies heavily on visual storytelling, movement, composition, facial expressions, and body language, with no dialogue. Actors will be expected to convey grief, love, unease, and uncertainty through subtle performances rather than exaggerated horror reactions. Shoot Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026.
