3 roles
A smaller-framed young woman who must project a child-like yet deeply devious and malicious quality. She has an unsettling, almost playful menace — the kind of quiet, calculating expression that can shift from wide-eyed innocence to something cold and predatory in an instant. Must be comfortable with physical work (falling, being carried, floating/wire work if required) and delivering a performance that balances vulnerability with quiet, chilling power.
Warm, maternal, and grounded. She must radiate genuine motherly vibes — caring, practical, slightly folksy, and instinctively protective. The kind of woman who would take a stranger into her home without hesitation and fuss over an injured ankle. Soft but sturdy presence; natural warmth that feels lived-in and authentic.
The older son of the Old Woman. He should feel grounded, practical, and slightly protective — the kind of rural young man who is cautious about strangers and quick to worry about consequences (especially when it comes to other people’s livestock). He needs a natural, understated presence that can shift into genuine shock and quiet dread. A grounded, believable “village boy” energy rather than anything overly polished or theatrical.
