"Coarse" Feature Film Seeking Actors

Lead role. (To play age 11-14 AND 25-30 in the script) An old soul, haunted by death and grief. He first met death when he was 13 when Nolan killed his father right in front of him. After that night death will follow him everywhere he goes, even in his dreams. Haunting him day and night. During his time in the military he worked within the Mortuary Affairs, handling search, recovery, and evacuation of remains from the theater of operations.

Lead role. A law man, and the only true friend Alex has ever known. The moral compass of the narrative. Harlan is the only one who truly sees Alex for what he is, but chooses to stick by him and turn a blind eye, which ends up getting him killed.

Lead role. (To play 31 AND 51 in the script) A strong, determined woman, Lorelei Taylor used to be a former member of Nolan’s gang, but left that life behind with her husband, John. 2o years later, and after the murder of her husband, Lorelei has now developed an aggressive form of cancer and struggles to find meaning in her life.

Supporting role. John Taylor is a hardened, cynical former outlaw and member of Nolan’s gang. Practically being raised by Nolan, John grew frustrated with the outfit, and saw his opportunity to escape with Lorelei to start a better life. But try as he might, his past catches up to him eventually.

Supporting role. (To play 40 AND 60 in the script) Nolan is the complex, charismatic, and increasingly paranoid leader of his gang of outlaws. Nolan and his crew are involved in everything, from bank robbing to smuggling. After being betrayed by his right hand man, John, he spends 15 years tracking them down and making John pay for what he did.

Supporting role. An old associate of John’s. He and John were Nolan’s muscle, and would take on the low level jobs like hitting jewelry stores, safety deposit boxes, cash trucks, etc. John always made sure Mason, and Mason’s little cousin, Tess, never knew more than they needed. They made a lot of money very fast without making so much as a peep in the local news.

Supporting role. Mason’s little cousin. The best hacker in all of Nolan’s gang. She, Mason and Nolan continued to drop body after body for about 10 years after the death of John. Eventually, her lifestyle changed; fancy dinners and diamond necklaces, to late nights and cheap drugs. 20 years later, indebted to a man named Javier, Tess and her new partner, Mark, sloppily take any score they can find…until Alex finds her.

Day Player. A drug addict barely holding it together, constantly looking for his next high, he and Tess make a mess wherever they go.

Day Player. Irene enjoys her upscale lifestyle in the suburbs of Chicago. She continually wrestles with the profound moral dilemma of enabling her husband's illicit lifestyle in exchange for a lavish suburban existence.

Day Player. A compassionate and composed cancer survivor who leads a support group for others navigating life after cancer. Experienced at creating a safe, encouraging environment, they listen more than they speak but know when to offer guidance or reassurance.

Day Player. A woman whose spouse is currently battling cancer. She attends the support group looking for understanding and connection with others who know what her family is going through. Caring and emotionally invested, she carries the quiet exhaustion of someone trying to stay strong for the person she loves.

Day Player. A veteran clerk at the sheriff's office who has spent years handling case files, paperwork, and the day-to-day administrative work of the department. Practical, organized, and familiar with the people and procedures around the office, Delilah knows how to get things done without making a fuss.

Day Player. A capable and attentive hospital nurse accustomed to working in a demanding environment.

Day Player. A seasoned physician treating Lorelei for cancer. Calm, knowledgeable, and compassionate, Dr. Emerson meets with Lorelei to discuss her treatment, prognosis, and what the future may hold.

Day Player. A hardworking furniture store employee responsible for loading and moving furniture onto delivery trucks.

Day Player. A retail employee at the furniture store who assists customers on the sales floor. Friendly, but sometimes a slacker, Karen knows the store and its products well and is accustomed to helping customers navigate their purchases.

Day Player. A polite elderly customer browsing the furniture store, taking her time as she looks over the selection.

Day Player. A professional delivery worker who arrives at Alex's home to drop off a package
