Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Casting call for "The Pickup" independent short film, looking for actors. See more details below. About the project: THE PICKUP is a quiet, character-driven short film about two people whose marriage is over, but whose connection to each other isn't. Miles and Anna are divorced. The papers are signed, the ink is dry, and they've moved on with their lives. There is no question of getting back together. Over one evening in an old VW bus, they fall easily into the jokes, stories, silences, and shorthand of two people who still know each other extraordinarily well. The film is naturalistic, intimate, funny, and restrained. We're looking for actors who can let small moments do the work. Listening matters. Silences matter. A glance across the front seat may carry more weight than a speech. Rate: Non-union and unpaid; meals, copy, and credit provided. Additional info: Non-Union Filming in the Houston area in Early-October 2026. Both roles involve significant filming inside and around a vintage 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia camper bus. Both actors will drive the vehicle, so a valid driver's license and comfort driving an older vehicle are required. If interested, please send: Headshot Acting reel or relevant performance samples Name, age range, and Houston-area availability Role: Miles or Anna Selected actors will receive sides and be invited to submit a self-tape.

2 roles

MILESMale35-55 y.o.All ethnicities

Funny, observant, and sentimental without advertising it. Miles often turns sincerity into a joke when things get too close. His biggest emotional gesture is delivered almost casually, because it isn't about making a statement. It's about taking care of someone who still matters to him.

ANNAFemale35-55 y.o.All ethnicities

Warm, sharp, capable, and very difficult to bullshit. Anna knows Miles well enough to see where he's going before he gets there. She's affectionate without confusing that affection for romance. She has moved forward with her life, but that doesn't make their history disposable.
