About the project: Synopsis: At a lively queer dinner party celebrating Gwen's bottom surgery, Curtis arrives with his new fling, Jax - only to come face to face with his ex-boyfriend, Felix. The mood shifts when Felix not only shows no interest in him but starts flirting with Jax instead. As laughter and celebration fill the room, Curtis grows increasingly cold and isolated, watching Jax and Felix get a little too comfortable with each other. Rate: This is an ACTRA AIP short film, so preference will be given to ACTRA members, but ALL are encouraged to apply. Additional information: Type of Production: Scripted live action short film. Lead. Gender: Queer, male presenting. Accent: Any. A sensitive, hopeless romantic bent on proving to himself - and his long-term ex - that he has moved on to new and better things. After bringing his new fling, Jax, to a dinner party where his ex Felix is in attendance, it becomes clear that Curt still has unresolved feelings. Curt's need for validation sends him into a drunken spiral of jealousy and self-sabotage. Curt is funny, neurotic and emotionally impulsive.
Supporting lead. Gender: Queer/Non-binary. Accent: Any. Cool, perceptive and quietly observant, Jax enters his situationship with Curt with an open mind. Excited to meet his friends and learn more about him at Gwen's dinner party, Jax is blindsided when he learns Curt's ex, Felix will be in attendance. What's more - Jax has a history with Felix as well.
Supporting. Gender: Queer. Accent: Any. Magnetic, effortlessly charming and relentlessly self-assured. Felix has seemingly moved on from Curt, but relishes every opportunity to twist the knife. Able to command a room with wit and charisma, Felix knows exactly how to weaponize his charm while maintaining an air of emotional detachment.
Supporting. Trans woman. Accent: Any. The chaotically un-sober host of the dinner party is celebrating her recovery from gender-affirming surgery. She also happens to be the only person at the party with enough common sense to recognize the evenings impending implosion. Blunt, warm and effortlessly funny, Gwen just wants to celebrate with her friends, but gets unknowingly roped into playing referee.
Supporting. Accent: Any. The wild card of the group, Avery uses the occasion to bring an abomination of a dish to the dinner party, inadvertently acting as the catalyst for interpersonal disaster. Chaotic, flighty and truly alternative, Avery approaches life with boundless curiosity and an unwavering commitment to her own bizarre wavelength.
