About the play: "Dead Can’t Dance" is a dark, campy rock opera that kicks off when a sudden, terrifying epidemic sweeps through a local city. The crisis is engineered by Dr. Johnathan Freiderick, an eccentric mad scientist who was cast out of the mainstream scientific community for his taboo studies on re-animation. Driven by ambition and spite, he unleashes a modified, rabies-like virus that turns the townspeople into bloodthirsty ghouls. Amidst the rising chaos, an unlikely band of survivors comes together to navigate the overrun streets. The group is anchored by Johnny Fortune—a tired, cynical frontman whose touring band has spent years chasing rock-and-roll stardom without success—and Jennie Laine, an ambitious desk journalist eager to prove herself on air. Joined by a baseball-bat-swinging athlete named Tommy and a sharp-witted medical examiner named Beth, the group dodges hordes of the undead as they search for safety. Along the way, romantic sparks fly between the reluctant Johnny and the brave Jennie, giving the washed-up singer a reason to care again. Knowing that the disgraced Dr. Freiderick is hiding out in his laboratory, the survivors decide to make a dangerous trek through the zombie-infested city to confront the scientist and secure the potential cure he holds. The show builds to a dramatic face-off between the survivors and the mad doctor in his stronghold, where the high-stakes battle for the fate of humanity reaches its climax. Additional information: The band is touring Europe in September, so the recordings will take place over the winter of 2026/27 with the idea of shooting (or going into production) in the Spring of 2027.
