"Dig" Short Film Seeking Actors
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Casting "DIG," an award-winning short film script that tells an Indigenous and Sapphic story. Representation is more important than ever. "DIG" the Short pushes the discussion on the dehumanization of indigenous peoples and the ego of those who have stolen stories and artifacts from indigenous lands. Synopsis: On a dig site, artifacts are being dug up on indigenous land without consent. Julia, an indigenous woman who is undercover, plans to get them back. The way to the artifacts is through an archaeologist named Maxine. In a whirl of flirting and betrayal, eventually, they must confront one another. LEAD ROLE: An indigenous woman of the Shawnee Nation, she goes undercover as an excavator in order to take back what the archeologists have stolen from her and Nation. Pushing through discomfort, she must do her best to fit in and find information through unsuspecting party's. After years of nobody listening, she is surprised and curious about someone who may be willing.
LEAD ROLE: An archeologist in her late 20's who is in charge of cataloging artifacts. With her crafty old notebook she drafts theories through sketches and descriptions, working most often in the tent on the dig site. She has a passion for history and preservation that leads her to some misconceptions, but is eager to listen and understand from other prospectives.
DAY PLAYER ROLE: An indigenous man who is a representative from the Shawnee Nation when visiting the dig site. He is unbothered by confrontation, confident, and clever with his approaches.
SUPPORTING ROLE: An older woman, Ronnie has what she would describe a southern charm. She's considered a higher up at the dig site. She struggles to hide her lack of empathy, which is on display just as much as her chipped tooth.
