"Chosen" - Short Film

Earthy, regal, and gloriously unbothered. A widow who has rekindled a romance with an old love, until one very long morning upends everything. Janice is outspoken, witty, vibrant, stylish, and still very much a sexy woman. She moves through life with warmth, humor, and a hard-earned sense of self. Seeking an actor with razor-sharp comic timing who can also bring real emotional depth and gravity to the role. Role includes a brief staged physical altercation, choreographed for safety.

Refined, dignified, and impeccably put together. Harold's wife, who arrives with no intention of begging for anything. Deborah's power is in her restraint and composure, until both finally crack. Elegant and commanding, with a presence that speaks before she does. Needs stillness, razor-sharp wit, dry devastation, and a willingness to fully commit to the physical comedy. Role includes a brief staged physical altercation, choreographed for safety.

Charming, established, and accustomed to being in control. A sitting councilman and Janice's old love, Harold spends much of the film in a cataleptic state, experiencing trance-like episodes in which he appears lifeless. A largely physical, largely still role that requires tremendous control, presence, and comic instinct, followed by one brief burst of confused, panicked life when he wakes.

Tall, handsome, polished, and very much not signed up for this. Deborah's grandson, Brian tracks his grandfather's phone and drives his grandmother over, only to find himself dropped into the middle of a situation he absolutely did not expect. There's a little of his grandfather's charm in him, but Brian is the grounded one in the room. Amid the chaos, he becomes a tender, calming counterweight. Needs charm, quick comic reactivity.
