Theatre Casting Call for "The Bully Pulpit"
Casting Equity actors for roles in Theatre's 2026-27 Winter Season show "The Bully Pulpit". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see breakdown below. About the project: SYNOPSIS: Written by Michael O. Smith, this one-man show explores the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Born in New York City in 1858 into one of the city’s prominent families, Roosevelt forged a public life as vigorous as it was varied: reformer, soldier, conservationist, governor, president, and, later, Nobel Peace Prize recipient. As president, he positioned the federal government as an arbiter between capital and labor—challenging powerful corporate interests while insisting on a “Square Deal” for working Americans and the public good. Married twice and the father of six, Roosevelt also regarded family life as central to his happiness, once writing that he had “the happiest home life of any man whom I have ever known.” Rate: LORT Non-Rep $889 weekly minimum (LORT D) Additional info: All roles will be understudied. The 26th President of the United States on his 60th birthday. Male-presenting. Direct to the point of blunt, but with a gleeful sense of humor. Unflinching in turning his sharp wit and intellect on all subjects, including himself. He believes the job of a human being is to step into the arena, get dirty, take risks, and choose action over cynicism: “Dare mighty things” or get out of the way. At times, fully inhabiting the adventurous Rough Rider reputation for which he was famous.
Currently scheduled to perform at least 2 shows/week and understudy for the other performances.
