About the show: Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburbia. She attempts to take on The Plastics, a trio of frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George, and learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung. Additional information: First Read Through and Meet and Greet: Saturday, September 19, 2026. Weekly Saturday Rehearsals: September 19, 2026 - January 23, 2027. Tech Week and Dress Rehearsals: January 25 - 27, 2027. Preview Performance: Thursday, January 28, 2027. Opening Night: Friday, January 29, 2027. Shows: Friday, January 29 (7:00pm), Saturday, January 30 (2:00pm, 7:00pm), Sunday, January 31 (2:00pm), Friday, February 5 (7:00pm), Saturday, February 6 (2:00pm, 7:00pm). Snow Dates (please keep these dates available incase of rescheduled shows due to weather): Sunday, January 31 (7:00pm), Sunday, February 7 (2:00pm, 7:00pm), Monday, February 8 (7:00pm). Full attendance during the rehearsal process, tech week and performances is a requirement. Attendance concerns should be brought to the attention of the production team well in advance of the conflict date. For all roles: Please prepare a song cut from the show. Those auditioning for Regina, Cady, Karen, Gretchen, Damian and/or Janis are asked to prepare the corresponding song provided. If you would like to be considered for multiple roles, prepare all songs associated with all roles for which you wish to be considered. Directors may or may not request to hear more than one selection, but please be prepared in case they would like to hear more. Those auditioning for all other roles, including the ensemble, are asked to prepare the ensemble song provided. You may also be asked to cold-read sides (lines from the script) during your audition. You will not be expected to have anything prepared in advance for your cold-read; it is an opportunity for them to see your instincts and adaptability with taking direction in the moment! For Featured Dancer roles, Karen and Damian: Please prepare the choreography combo provided that is associated with the role for which you will be auditioning, and be prepared to perform the combo during your audition. There will not be a group dance call. If you are auditioning for both Karen or Damian AND Featured Dancer, you may prepare just the named role combo, although you are welcome to prepare both. If you are auditioning for Karen or Damian and you have character heels or tap shoes respectively, please bring them! If you don’t, that’s ok! It’s not a requirement. Only those wishing to be considered for a featured dancer role, or for the roles of Karen or Damian are required to prepare the provided dance combo. If you wish to display your dance ability anyway, directors would love to see it! Otherwise, artists who are not interested in a dancing role are not required to prepare the combo. A new junior at North Shore High School, Cady grew up in Africa and was home-schooled by her wildlife biologist parents. She is warm, bright, and strong enough to take on The Plastics. Regina is the Queen Bee of the Plastics. When she shines her light on you, you feel like the most important person in the world. When that light goes cold, you want to die. She is regal, still, and “hot”, but at her most vulnerable moments, she is just a kid in over her head. Vocal range top: Gb5 Vocal range bottom: F#3 Broadway rock mix with an exceptional range.
An “Art Freak” and social outcast, Janis is not afraid to be weird or make others uncomfortable. She paints herself as an objective observer, but, like so many of us, she longs to avenge the devastating events of eighth grade Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: Ab3 Broadway alto, rock belt.
Outgoing and an active member of the student activities committee, Damian is a fiercely loyal friend to Janis and they have the close rapport of a comedy team Vocal range top: A4 Vocal range bottom: F2 Broadway tenor. Strong dance ability required.
One of the Plastics. Desperate to please Regina and to maintain her position in the Plastics, Gretchen is a nervous wreck. She befriends people to “bank” their secrets so she can trade them later for her own benefit. One of the Plastics. Although her intellect and personality never had a chance to develop, Karen is kind and generous. Vocal range top: Gb5 Vocal range bottom: G3 Broadway/pop mezzo soprano. Strong dance ability required.
A cute boy with a good moral compass and a backbone. He’s not immune to all the female attention he gets, but he’s not going to let himself be a pawn in their chess game either. Vocal range top: Bb4 Vocal range bottom: B2 Broadway and pop tenor.
Kevin is the extremely driven captain of the North Shore Mathletes. He is a confident student and a decent rapper. Broadway tenor/baritone.
Ms. Norbury is Cady’s world-weary Calculus teacher who pushes Cady to be her smartest self. Mrs. George is Regina’s “cool mom.” She’s desperate to look young and feel like one of the teens. She’s also desperate for Regina not to repeat her mistakes These roles my be cast as one actor to portray both characters distinctly, or separately. The principal of North Shore High. Mr. Duvall may have once taught computers at Joliet penitentiary, but nothing prepared him for the harsh realities of out-of-control junior girls. This is a non-singing role.
Various roles including Mr. and Mrs. Heron, Shane Oman, Glenn Coco, Matheletes, Band Geeks, and more! Included in the ensemble are Featured Ensemble/Featured Dancer roles. These roles are available to both youth and adult artists. Adult artists cast in the ensemble may portray either high school students or adults, or may be cast in the adult chorus to provide strong harmony vocals with limited on-stage time.
