Dean's life has gone off the rails. He nearly flunked out of high school, has been rejected by every college in the world, and got kicked out of a McDonalds job interview recently. To top it all off, he recently killed his parents in a drunk driving car accident on their way home from a Canucks game. He's not coping with any of this well. His passion for the Canucks has morphed into a fetish-like obsession.
Due to a recent shoulder injury (caused by Dean), Shane can no longer play hockey, ruining his chances of making the NHL. As a result, Shane is forced to major in General Studies in college. Not exactly the life he planned. But Shane believes there's hope so long as he takes action. He remains optimistic, willing to embrace the future. He holds no ill will towards Dean, despite the fact that they haven't talked in months.
