PRINCIPAL, FRISIAN DUTCH, SKINNY/LEAN Menno Gilliam is a Dutch headmaster-turned-soldier, not by choice. Despite having endured Japanese cruelty for three years, he does not harbor resentment and can even show kindness to his captors. He hopes to survive and be reunited with his family. Able to do an authentic Dutch accent and have good Dutch pronunciation. Fluent in English.
PRINCIPAL, JAPANESE, LEAN. The son of the ruthless POW camp superior, Matsumo is a Japanese imperial soldier with a lot to prove. He joined the army of his own accord and aspires to climb his way up the military ranks by any means possible. He is intense and stern, but has an earnest and softer side to him. Needs to speak, understand English, and be fluent in Japanese.
PRINCIPAL, DUTCH, SKINNY/LEAN. Jan is a hardened and cynical Dutch military man. Having lost so many and feeling powerless in the hands of his captors, Jan learned to fear and hate his enemies. He is often frustrated by Menno’s choice of actions. Able to do an authentic Dutch accent and have good Dutch pronunciation. Fluent in English.
SUPPORTING, JAPANESE. A highly indoctrinated military officer who runs the POW camp. Ruthless but not without reason, he is fiercely loyal to the Emperor and upholds his duty with unwavering intensity. He does not hesitate to use violence and brutality as a means of discipline. Needs to speak, understand English, and be fluent in Japanese.
