The story relies on mistaken identities, slammed doors, and rapid-fire lies to hide a web of overlapping extramarital affairs taking place in a French farmhouse. The charming, scheming, and over-confident husband. He orchestrates a plan to send his wife away so he can host his mistress for a romantic weekend, which spirals completely out of control
Bernard’s suspicious, sharp-witted, and high-strung wife. She discovers the weekend's true guest list and returns home with her own set of motives
Bernard’s best friend and wingman. Unbeknownst to Bernard, Robert is also Jacqueline's lover and is dragged into covering up Bernard's affair.
Bernard’s mistress. A glamorous actress/model who is brought to the farmhouse and is forced to pretend to be someone else entirely to conceal the truth
The hired cordon bleu cook. Often pragmatic and street-smart, she is repeatedly mistaken for Bernard's mistress by the other characters, causing endless mix-ups.
Suzette’s intimidating and protective husband. His sudden arrival adds an escalating layer of danger and confusion to the already frantic household.
