"The Boys Next Door" Play Searching for Cast

Auditions for Fall season show "The Boys Next Door". Actors wanted. Additional details are available below. Additional info: Things to know before auditioning: The play was written in the 1980s and contains language and attitudes that are now recognized as outdated and ableist, including use of the R-word. This language is part of the original script and the period in which it was written; its inclusion in the production should not be interpreted as an endorsement of it. Actors considering auditioning should be comfortable engaging with this material thoughtfully. The characters with intellectual disabilities must be portrayed as complete, complex human beings rather than as caricatures or collections of mannerisms. Directors' goal is to approach the production with honesty, compassion, respect, and an awareness of how representations of disability have changed since the play was written.
