About the project: Logline: Following the loss of a close friend, Sarra, a second-generation South Sudanese Canadian, finds herself caught between cultural expectations of resilience and her own need to grieve, forcing her family to reconsider what strength and healing truly mean. South Sudanese. A traditional father who is deeply devoted to his family. Shaped by cultural norms, Deng struggles to understand the silent effects of mental health, creating tension with his daughter Sarra.
PRINCIPAL SUPPORTING. Eritrean/Ethiopian. Warm, grounded, and emotionally intuitive, Selam is one of Sarra's closest friends. She quietly notices the emotional weight carried by those around her. Her gentle presence reminds us of the importance of simply showing up for one another during difficult times.
South Sudanese. A kind-hearted and vibrant young woman whose presence is felt through brief flashbacks that convey her joy and connection to those around her. Nyagoa's internal conflicts lead the people in her life to reflect on mental health, and the things often left unspoken. SUPPORTING (Silent On-Camera) (Open to casting models for this role, no acting experience required).
