Olivia aspires to be a superstar actress and has just graduated from USC's theatre school. She comes from a family of wealth, which has granted her the opportunity to star in multiple plays and musicals. Despite all of Olivia's stardom, she still feels a sense of discontent. Following her graduation, Olivia rushes the stage to try and have one last attempt to truly feel like a star.
Gwen graduated from Santa Monica College 2 years ago and is best friends with Olivia. She attaches all her dreams to contentment and wants Olivia to also do the same. Gwen works in a small cafe and is happy where she is. When she's at Olivia's graduation, she wants Olivia to embrace who she is. When Olivia rushes the stage, Gwen refuses to let Olivia fabricate her speech and wants her to be genuine. Gwen realizes that for Olivia to be herself, she needs to let go of the lies.
