Rose is a retired school teacher who fosters old dogs with health issues. She has a big heart, but has difficulty connecting with her daughter; a young woman who is struggling with her marriage. Must be comfortable working with animals, and physically able to squat, bend over, and lift at least 15 lbs from the floor.
Charlie is Rose’s husband. He and Rose found each other later in life, after the both of them went through their own unsuccessful marriages. He does his best to keep the peace in his household, and though he is not close with his step-children, he does everything he can to support them.
Janice is the family’s therapist. She has been with them since their children were teens.
