About the project: After the sudden death of her father, Kim returns home to Montreal and inherits his underground gambling operation. Though she has spent years distancing herself from his world, she reluctantly steps in to manage the business temporarily, determined to settle his affairs and make things right. Inside the casino, Kim is confronted with a reality she tried to escape: a tight-knit community built on risk, dependency, and unspoken rules. As she reconnects with the people orbiting her father’s life – including Peter, a troubled gambler, Lisa, a loyal confidante, and Eli, a quiet dealer caught between duty and doubt, Kim begins to understand the human cost of the empire she has inherited. As she attempts to reshape the business on her own terms, tensions rise. Old loyalties are tested, and the arrival of her cousins, eager to claim their place in the operation, forces Kim into a position she never wanted. What begins as an effort to take responsibility slowly turns into a deeper moral reckoning. Caught between her father’s legacy and her own values, Kim must ultimately decide whether to carry on his work or break the cycle entirely, even if it means losing everything. PRINCIPAL ROLE. ASIAN ACTRESS/MIXED (CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE, etc.) MUST BE BILINGUAL ENGLISH-FRENCH. Kim, 27, is a Quiet, observant woman with a strong moral compass. She is reserved but emotionally intense, and has natural leadership qualities despite not wanting power. Her father's death has made her the new owner of his famous underground casino, and Kim feels out of place in the world she inherits.
PRINCIPAL ROLE. ASIAN ACTOR/MIXED (CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE, etc.) MUST BE BILINGUAL ENGLISH-FRENCH. Peter is emotionally fragile, impulsive, sensitive, and deeply lonely. He struggles with addiction and self-control. He seeks connection and validation but often sabotages himself. He is Charles old friend, and one of the loyal customers of the casino where he spends all his time losing his money. After Charles' death, even though he mourns him, his luck at the casino starts to change around.
PRINCIPAL ROLE. ASIAN ACTOR/MIXED (CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE, etc. MUST SPEAK ENGLISH AND THAI (OR ANOTHER ASIAN DIALECT) Confident, loud and confrontational. He masks his deep insecurity and fear of inadequacy by appearing dominant and ambitious. Zach is charismatic yet threatening. Kim's cousin who believes the underground casino shouldn't have been left to Kim and decides he will take matters into his own hands.
ACTOR ROLE. ASIAN ACTOR/MIXED (CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE, etc.) MUST SPEAK ENGLISH AND THAI (OR ANOTHER ASIAN DIALECT). Charles is charismatic, sharp, and self-made, believing freedom comes from money. With a great sleight of hand, he built everything through his intelligence, risk-taking, and by compromising his morals. He was a widowed father, who could be warm and playful, but in business he was commanding and intimidating, and Kim saw both sides of him.
MUST SPEAK ENGLISH. MUST BE BLACK OR MIXED. Black woman in her 60s. Lisa is someone who has spent years putting others before herself. Charismatic, vibrant, and warm. A natural people-person who brings lightness into any room. Intelligent and emotionally intuitive, she connects easily with others but can be naïve in her loyalty. Beneath her lively energy is a more private, introspective side.
Éli is quiet, grounded, and deeply empathetic. He works in Charles' underground casino running the Blackjack table. He carries a sense responsibility beyond his years. He is introspective and emotionally aware, but prefers to express himself through silence.
ASIAN ACTOR/MIXED (CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE, etc.) NON-SPEAKING ROLE. Jay is Zach's younger brother. He is reserved and lets himself be influenced by Zach's ideas. He is observant and impressionable, often caught between his own instincts and pressure to follow his brother, he is loyal to him, even if it requires going against their own cousin (Kim).
