Maxine/Matthew is a young woman/man afflicted with night terrors. They are somewhat sarcastic and irritable, and can sometimes seem closed-off or cold, but they are using this to guard the fact that they yearn for comfort and connection.
Michael/Morgan is Maxine’s/Matthew’s only close friend. They are caring and proactive in their kindness, but are not the most outwardly open or comforting person, and can occasionally come off as thoughtless or unaware.
