About the project: In September 1939, 18-year-old Samantha is beginning her career as a nurse in Hamilton, Ontario. Raised by a wealthy family, she has always felt torn between living up to her parents' expectations and wanting to experience life on her own terms. Compassionate, artistic, and kind-hearted, she hopes to make a difference by caring for others. Her closest friend, Tessa, has known Samantha since they met in Grade 7 at private school. Seeing that Samantha has always struggled to meet someone she truly connects with, Tessa arranges for her to meet her friend, Gordon. When Samantha and Gordon meet, there is an immediate connection. Gordon is charming, respectful, and easy to talk to, and Samantha quickly begins to feel comfortable around him. What she doesn't know is that Gordon secretly enlisted and trained as a military pilot before they met. He has told almost no one about it and hasn't found the courage to tell Samantha. Just as their relationship begins to blossom, Gordon receives orders for his first mission after the outbreak of the Second World War. Before he can explain the truth or tell Samantha how he feels, duty calls him away, leaving both of them with unfinished words and an uncertain future. Rate: Paid and food transportation paid.
