About the project: The Game's Afoot (Holmes for the Holidays), is a comedy thriller set in December 1936. The story revolves around Broadway star William Gillette, who is famous for his role as Sherlock Holmes. Gillette invites his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of Christmas fun and festivities. However, the weekend takes a dark turn when one of the guests is mysteriously stabbed to death. In this isolated house filled with tricks and mirrors, Gillette must use his Sherlock Holmes persona to track down the killer before another victim appears. The play is filled with non-stop danger and laughter, making it a thrilling and entertaining experience. A rich, good-humored man full who enjoys being Sherlock Holmes on and off stage. He has made a fortune from acting as Sherlock Holmes in various plays. His character is based on a real man, William Hooker Gillette.
WILLIAM’S mother. She is loyal to her son to a fault, but she has a nasty habit of taking her doting too far. She never shies away from a fight.
WILLIAM’S best friend in reality but his enemy on stage, playing the role of Moriarty. He is as dedicated to WILLIAM as he is to the stage. He is married to Madge.
A lifelong theatrical. She is game for any sort of fun, but if she’s backed into a corner, she will come out swinging. She is married to FELIX.
A handsome young man who is eager to please the world and find success. He is easily manipulated. He is sensitive to criticism and is recently married to AGGIE.
The ingénue of the troupe. She has suffered a tragedy in the recent past, but she seems to have moved on. She is married to SIMON, and they are charming together. However, she has a dark side to her.
But younger than WILLIAM, one of a kind. She has an English accent and is always off the mark, never far from the truth, and yet somehow always manages to solve the case.
The woman everyone loves to hate and hates to love. A theatre critic and a psychic medium, she tears down careers with her pen and is constantly criticizing people with her words, but somehow is still endearing.
