About the play: Written by Len Cuthbert and featuring original music by Fynn Cuthbert, Lawrence Station: The Flagship Erie's Final Flight recounts the true story of the crash of American Airlines Flight 1 on October 30, 1941. When the aircraft went down on the farm of Thompson and Viola Howe near Lawrence Station, Ontario, local residents rushed to the scene in an effort to save the 17 passengers and 3 crew members aboard. At the time, it was Canada’s worst aviation disaster. Through the stories of those directly affected, the play explores the lasting impact of the Flagship Erie's final flight on a rural community forever changed by the event. Rate: This is one of three contracted acting roles, with remuneration of $1,500. Additional information: Touring to Shedden and Strathroy, Ontario, from October 29–November 1, 2026. Premiering without music in 2023, Lawrence Station was performed for more than 800 audience members across three venues. Rehearsals will begin in mid-to-late August in Ontario.
