About the plays: Set on a hot summer afternoon in a small Texas town, Laundry and Bourbon follows three women, Elizabeth, Hattie and Amy Lee, as they spend the day folding laundry, drinking bourbon and sharing gossip. Beneath their humorous conversations lie deeper frustrations about marriage, fidelity and unfulfilled dreams. Through sharp wit and heartfelt moments, the play explores friendship, resilience and the realities of small town life, offering a candid and often comedic look at the challenges faced by women navigating relationships and personal identity. About "Lone Star": Set in the backyard of a rural Texas bar, Lone Star centers on Roy, a charismatic but troubled Vietnam veteran, and his younger brother Ray as they spend an evening drinking beer and reflecting on life. As secrets emerge and tensions rise, the brothers confront issues of family, loyalty, masculinity and change. Blending humour with poignant emotional depth, the play paints a vivid portrait of working-class Texas life, while examining the impact of war and the complexities of personal relationships. "Laundry and Bourbon". Female presenting. Elizabeth’s outspoken friend and neighbour. Sharp-tongued, practical and fiercely loyal, she provides comic relief while offering hard-earned wisdom about relationships and life. Though often blunt, her observations reveal a deep affection for those around her.
"Laundry and Bourbon". Female presenting. Young, energetic and somewhat naive. Recently married, she approaches life with optimism and curiosity, often acting as a contrast to Elizabeth’s more experienced perspective. Her enthusiasm and innocence bring warmth and honour to the group’s conversations.
"Lone Star". Male presenting. Charismatic Vietnam veteran who masks insecurity and emotional pain with bravado, humour and an endless supply of beer. Proud, larger-than-life, and deeply flawed, he commands attention while struggling to reconcile his past, his marriage and his sense of self. The role requires strong comedic timing and emotional depth.
"Lone Star". Male presenting. Roy’s younger brother. He is thoughtful, earnest and somewhat awkward. He admires Roy but also recognizes his shortcomings. Caught between loyalty and honesty, Ray becomes increasingly important as family secrets emerge. The role requires sincerity, warmth and strong listening skills.
"Lone Star". Male presenting. A quirky and socially awkward young man who works at the local bar. Good natured but often oblivious, he provides much of the play’s comedic relief. His innocent perspective and unusual observations help reveal deeper truths about the other characters.
