About the play: Based on the classic film of the same name and set in 1940's Indiana, A Christmas Story follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker and his determined quest for the perfect Christmas gift: an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. As Christmas approaches, Ralphie, assisted by his two best friends Flick and Schwartz, navigates schoolyard bullies, family mishaps, awkward encounters with Santa, eccentric neighbors, and his father's ongoing battle with a troublesome furnace, all while facing the constant warning that his dream gift will "shoot his eye out." Told through the nostalgic recollections of Ralphie as an adult, this beloved holiday classic captures the humor, warmth, excitement, and frustrations of childhood at Christmastime. Filled with memorable characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and heartfelt family memories, A Christmas Story is a festive celebration of family, growing up, and the magic of Christmas dreams. Loud, opinionated, competitive, and endlessly entertaining, The Old Man approaches life with the intensity of a man convinced he is locked in daily battle with furnaces, neighbors, repair bills, and the general unfairness of the world. Beneath his gruff exterior, however, lies a devoted husband and loving father whose pride, enthusiasm, and larger-than-life personality make him unforgettable.

Warm, intelligent, practical, and endlessly patient, Mother keeps her family functioning amid the chaos created by Ralphie, Randy, and The Old Man. While often the voice of reason, she is never stern or cold; her humour and compassion shine through even in moments of frustration.
