4 roles

Vera JosephBoth genders65-91 y.o.All ethnicities

Leo’s grandmother. A fiercely independent, sharp-tongued, and politically radical Marxist who has lived in her Greenwich Village apartment for decades. While she is dealing with the physical frustrations of aging—such as hearing loss and forgetting words—she remains mentally astute, deeply compassionate, and entirely unapologetic about who she is.

Leo Joseph-KahnBoth genders20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

Vera’s grandson. An idealistic, free-spirited, and somewhat emotionally guarded young man. He arrives at Vera's doorstep physically exhausted and deeply traumatized by a tragic loss suffered during his cross-country bicycle trip. He is trying to figure out his place in the world while actively running away from his responsibilities and his grief.

BecBoth genders20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

Leo’s on-again, off-again girlfriend. A college student who is grounded, mature, and moving forward with her life. She loves Leo but has grown tired of his emotional unavailability and lack of direction. She represents the "real world" that Leo is trying to avoid.

AmandaBoth genders20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

(Note: The actress playing Amanda should have excellent comedic timing; Chinese-American heritage is specified in the script). A vibrant, stylish, and heavily intoxicated college student whom Leo brings back to Vera’s apartment for a potential hookup. She is performative, funny, and deeply self-conscious. Though she only appears in one scene, she provides significant comedic relief and highlights the stark cultural and generational contrast between Leo's world and mainstream youth culture.
