About the project: LOGLINE: On the night of a rare total lunar eclipse, a thirteen-year-old girl sneaks out of her room at midnight despite her father’s restrictions to watch Alien, a film her late mother had promised they would see together. This leads to an unexpected confrontation between the girl and a cockroach that tests domestic authority and innocence in a modern, privileged home. SYNOPSIS: On the night of a rare total lunar eclipse, a thirteen-year-old girl is in her bedroom with her father. The eclipse had been marked in advance by her late mother, who promised they would watch it together. The girl wants to stay awake to watch Alien, the film her mother chose for that night, but her father refuses, insisting she go to sleep because it is late and she has school the next day. The disagreement ends without resolution, and the father leaves the room. After the house has gone quiet, the girl sneaks downstairs into the private cinema and begins watching Alien alone. While the film plays, she notices a cockroach moving near the screen. Startled, she throws her plush toy toward it, knocking over a framed family photograph, which shatters loudly. The noise wakes her father, who rushes downstairs, turns off the film, and carries the girl back to bed, telling her the photograph can be fixed the next day. Under the blanket alone, the girl whispers to her absent mother. Moments later, the cockroach crawls back into the room through the open door and disappears into the darkness.
