( Lead reality show ) A devoted father and husband former Barber who becomes gravely ill and needs a liver transplant. Strong-willed but weakened by illnesses and betrayal. Believes in discipline, respect and traditional family values

( Lead reality show) Alex's wife, mother of three. Initially supportive but grows distant during Alex's illnesses, eventually having an affair. Increasingly resentful of Alex's " old-fashioned "values and actively undermines his authority.

The oldest child, once and honor roll student who begins acting out. Not Alex's biological daughter- her real father, has been in prison for years, uses this fact as a weapon against Alex when convenient.

Shanta’s lover, a manipulative man who enables the family's dysfunction and actively undermines Alex's authority. Represents everything Alex stands against.

Denise's biological father, imprisoned drug dealer serving a 20-year sentence for distribution and manslaughter. Charismatic and manipulative, he begins corresponding with Denise to drive a wedge in the family.
