Seeking Perfomers for "The Fifth Step" Play

About the play: Set in the world of Alcoholics Anonymous, The Fifth Step follows the evolving relationship between Luka and James, two men brought together through sponsorship. What begins as a straightforward mentorship develops into a complex, darkly funny, and deeply personal exploration of faith, addiction, masculinity, power, and redemption. Rate: Equity - ITA – F House. Additional information: CALL-BACK DATE: July 6th - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WARDROBE/FITTING DATE: TBC. REHEARSALS: December 15, 2026 – January 15, 2027. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS JUNE 18TH AT 5:00PM. Only those selected for an audition will be contacted. MALE-IDENTIFYING. James has over 25 years of sobriety. He is easy-going, likeable and deeply invested in helping others. Requires excellent comic timing and the ability to navigate rapidly shifting emotional terrain. Beneath the easygoing exterior, there is a degree of internal conflict and a darkness that he is not always capable of keeping in check.
MALE-IDENTIFYING. Luka is newer to recovery and struggling to rebuild his life. Confident, funny and disarmingly honest, Luka’s storytelling bravado and, what seems at the outset a lack of sophistication, belies a deep capacity for vulnerability and introspection. Requires strong dramatic instincts and the ability to balance humor with emotional depth.
