Singing Audition for "Spongebob" Play

SpongeBob SquarePants is the protagonist and title character of SpongeBob SquarePants. He is the unendingly optimistic yellow sea sponge. (Range: C3-B4)

A pink starfish, is happy-go-lucky sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants’ best friend and neighbor. Patrick, who lives under a rock, is dimwitted and overweight, and he lives a carefree existence full of food, television, friendship, and jellyfishing. (Range: Bb2-Bb4)

Sandy Cheeks is a Texas-born-and-raised squirrel who moved underwater when she decided she’d had enough of feeling out of place among the squirrels for being a girl who likes science. Sandy has spent years in Bikini Bottom living in her airtight tree dome studying the ocean. (Range: A3-E5)

A blue octopus, is a resident of Bikini Bottom who lives in an Easter Island Head and works as a cashier in Bikini Bottom’s premier burger joint, the Krusty Krab. A clarinetist, Squidward is uptight and is generally annoyed with anyone. Must be a competent tap dancer. (Range: A2-F#4)

Sheldon J. Plankton - a green plankton, is the evil owner of Bikini Bottom’s least popular restaurant, the Chum Bucket. The main antagonist of SpongeBob SquarePants, Plankton, who has consistently felt he has no worth, built himself a computer wife, Karen the Computer. Must be able to rap. (Range: B2-G#4)

A red crab, is a denizen of Bikini Bottom. He is the founder and owner of Bikini Bottom’s premier burger joint, the Krusty Krab, where he employs happy-go-lucky sea sponge SpongeBob and Squidward. Loves money and his daughter, Pearl (most likely in that order). (Range: B2-Bb4)

Karen, the Computer - Wife of evil owner of the Chum Bucket, plankton Sheldon Plankton. He built her to be his wife and sole companion because frankly nobody likes him, so Karen, who was programmed by Plankton, has no choice but to love him. She is smart and sassy. Helpful if she can beatbox. (Range: G#3-F#5)

A whale, is the daughter of miserly crab and owner of the Krusty Krab, Eugene Krabs. She is essentially a caricature of a teenage girl, and she exhibits a lot of stereotypically heightened teenage tendencies. (Range:Bb3-F#5)

The Mayor of Bikini Bottom - a politician at heart, and maintains a firm reign by instilling fear in the constituents of Bikini Bottom. Doubles as ensemble. (Range: F#4-B5)

Perch Perkins - an unspecified type of fish, is the anchorman on the Bikini Bottom news channel. Doubles as ensemble. (Range: E2-E4)

The Electric Skates - a famous boy band in Bikini Bottom. The trio of fish is heavily tattooed, and they are the underwater equivalent of a group like One Direction or the Jonas Brothers, with their main fan base being teenagers. Should be able to roller skate, skateboard, or roller blade well. Doubles as ensemble.

Larry the Lobster - a buff lobster who is friends with sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants. Larry is the biggest exercise guru in all of Bikini Bottom, and he spends much of his time at the gym, and his muscular physique shows it. He is slightly vain. Doubles as ensemble.

Old Man Jenkins - one of the oldest fish in Bikini Bottom, cranky and gruff. Doubles as ensemble.

Mrs. Puff - a blowfish, is sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants’ boating (the undersea equivalent of driving) instructor. She is generally a high-strung and paranoid fish. Doubles as ensemble.

Ensemble - The undersea creatures of Bikini Bottom, all need to tap (or fake it) well. The ensemble doesn’t sit still, they quadruple or quintuple as cowboy fish, sea anemones, sardines, jelly fish, etc. All stupid human pet tricks welcome from juggling to balloon animals, twirling to tumbling, playing an instrument… let us know what you can do. (16 total) Patchy, the Pirate - The casting of Patchy, the Pirate (SpongeBob’s #1 Fan and President of the SpongeBob Fan Club) is TBD.
