Voice Actors for "Lazula" an Original Audio Horror Series
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Casting call for "Lazula," an original audio horror series, looking for voice actors. See more details below. Rate: $50/hr (hour estimate follows each role) – Non-union About the project: In the 1980s, something happened to brothers Dell and Spencer that their family never spoke about again, but changed their lives forever. Now in 2026, after the death of their father, and their inheritance of a questionable legacy – an iconic but haunted Maine lighthouse – the brothers must confront what happened in their past, lest those horrors consume another generation. Additional info: Record dates: August 10-21 (Expect to record during business hours, you do not need to be available all days, if you have blackout dates during that period, please put those in your submission) Travel/physical requirements: Performers are expected to have their own transportation and be able to commute to locations in Southern Maine. Reasonable transportation accommodation may be possible with advanced notice. Location recording means recording audio similar to a film, so there will be more physical exertion than in a traditional studio voiceover project. We don’t currently have the budget to house out-of-town actors. Non-AI disclosure: Artists can be assured their voices will not be used for AI training or to generate things they did not say. If interested, please note you can submit for multiple characters, however please send a new submission per character. Directors want to hear your acting choices and, importantly, how you bring the character to life. We’re looking for grounded, naturalistic, film-like acting. Want to hear humanity coming through your performance and not “putting on a voice.” Ideally, you’ll record with a scene partner. If you don’t have a scene partner, just read your character’s side of the scene with natural breaks where the other character would be speaking (in other words, please don’t read multiple parts in one take!). No need to edit or clean-up the performance. Video is OK but audio only is fine, too. Use Voice Memo App (or similar) on iPhone. Formats accepted: MP3, WAV/AIFF, MP4, MOV, AAC, W4A.

Lead Role From a small town in Maine, Dell had big hopes to go out into the world and make it in the big leagues as an artist, but his career has plateaued in Los Angeles as a writer for branded commercial podcasts. He’s put an emotional wall around himself and become bitter and resentful for not achieving his dreams. He’s forced to confront all the aspects of himself he’d rather forget about after his father dies and he returns to Maine. (50hrs)
Lead Role Spencer is blue collar; he completed high school and immediately went into the trades working with his uncle and then founded his own independent contracting company. He’s got a good heart, but he’s hot-headed and struggles to deal with problems that aren’t solved with a wrench. His brother Dell is somewhat of an alien to him. While they were close growing up, when Dell left for college he basically vanished from the family scene, and Spencer struggles to forgive him for this. (50hrs)
Supporting Role Marty is Dell and Spencer’s father, but after an event when the kids were young, he became unable to care for them and increasingly isolated in a hermit-like existence as lighthouse keeper on Lazula Point. His death will loom large over the story, but we mostly get to know him through tapes he’s left behind. We learn that outside the tough, emotionally-distant face he puts on to the world, he has an inner warmth and yearning to connect with his estranged sons. (8 hrs)

Supporting Role Dell and Spencer came into Aunt Carrie’s care after their parents were unable to take care of them. She did so with open eyes, but has developed a bit of a martyr complex over the years because she wasn’t able to have her own biological children and subconsciously feels her own life was put on hold to care for her nephews. She’s a classic Maine woman, the kind you might see at a yard sale, bean supper, or selling pies along the side of the road. (6 hrs)
Supporting Role Married to Aunt Carrie, he was able to be a gregarious father figure to Dell and Spencer, doing fun stuff like taking them to baseball games, going fishing, etc. but Carrie did the bulk of the actual parenting. He’s the kind of guy who’ll pull anyone out of a snowbank no questions asked, and is great fun to have on a hunting or fishing trip. (3 hrs)
