Daughter of Oedipus, engaged to marry Haemon. Honorable, brave, loyal, loving, compassionate, and unwilling to compromise her values. She is the epitome of strength in conviction. Willing to die for her beliefs.
Daughter of Oedipus, sister of Antigone. She is devoted and honorable, but much more pragmatic than her sister. She believes in living to fight another day.
The surviving Sovereign of Thebes. He is uncompromising and refuses to be challenged by anyone. He was third in line to the throne and not expecting to reign, but after two generations of chaos and curse he is determined to right the ship and steady the course, no matter the cost.
Son of Oedipus, brother of Antigone, Ismene, and Eteokles. He and his brother were supposed to share the rule of Thebes but his brother has usurped the throne. Polynices is seeking justice for having been so wronged and amasses an army to retake what is rightly his. Doubles as lead member of the chorus.
Eteokles is the son of Oedipus, younger brother of Polyneices (and older brother of Antigone and Ismene). Eteokles is overly confident and sure of himself. He has taken full control of Thebes and will fight to the death to retain it. Haemon is Creon’s son and Antigone’s fiancé. He chooses to die with his love rather than side with his father in order to retain the crown.
Oedipus is a disgraced former king who has blinded himself and is living in exile. Tiresias is a blind prophet, loyal, wise, the voice of reason.
Theseus is the King of Athens, brave, honorable, and true to his word. He gives protection to Oedipus. The Scout and sentry are soldiers.
Loyal servants first of Theseus and then of Creon.
Creon’s wife, tired of tragedy brought on by foolish men.
