First Nations/Indigenous. Tall, athletic, impressive in stature. Great Sachem of the Pokanoket Wampanoag, he's a foresightful diplomat with vision, humanity and a wicked sense of humor; everything he does, he does to protect his people. When angered, he's a merciless foe. PRINCIPAL.
Indigenous. Philip's right-hand man and military commander. Elite fighter with perhaps a stronger stomach for conflict than his chief. Older, battle-hardened, with gravitas that earns Philip's respect. PRINCIPAL.
First Nations/Indigenous. Tall, impressive stature. Native ally of Massasoit from the north (Abenaki, from Pemaquid). Knows some English from trading with Maine fishermen and so has a practical attitude toward the Pilgrims. Savvy, loyal and distrustful of Squanto. PRINCIPAL.
Indigenous. Physically fit. Nemasket sachem, a leader among the Wampanoag people, and one of Philip's closest councilors. Philip's peer - warm, plainspoken, slow to anger. Hanged at Plymouth in 1675 for Sassamon's murder. ACTOR.
First Nations/Indigenous. By all accounts an impressive physical specimen. Massasoit's younger son. A true believer and passionate advocate of the pan-Indian cause. Tall, dignified, idealistic. His heroic insistence on equality with English leaders strikes them as haughty. The burden of his father's legacy weighs him down - how to continue on the path of peace when peace is just another word for surrender? PRINCIPAL
First Nations/Indigenous. Strong, muscular, intimidating. Massasoit's Wampanoag pniese - elite warrior, trained from boyhood for physical and spiritual endurance. Develops grudging respect for Standish; turns on Squanto when he realizes his treachery. PRINCIPAL.
First Nations/Indigenous. Shorter, thinner, never the physically strongest man in a fight. The last Patuxet, captured by the English as a young man, he learned their language in London. Returns to find his entire village wiped out by plague. He helps the Pilgrims to survive in an attempt to overthrow Massasoit. His language skills gave him a great advantage. PRINCIPAL.
First Nations/Indigenous. Medium build. Avid Christian convert and once Philip's trusted translator. Smart, tortured - suffers the indignity and exhaustion of a man living between two cultures and trusted fully by neither, and pays for it with his life. PRINCIPAL.
First Nations/Indigenous. Striking dark eyes that burn right through you. Sakonnet Sachem. Friend of Benjamin Church. A worn-out pragmatist, she reluctantly joins Philip's war, then switches sides after Church convinces her Philip's cause is lost. PRINCIPAL.
