About the project: WHEN IT SETTLES is an action horror that takes place in the 1930s in the California Territories, the isolated mining town known as Benton hires a new sheriff, Isiah Kenner—a former U.S. Marshal with a complicated identity as a Black man who’s white passing. Hoping for a quiet post, Isiah finds himself thrust into chaos when a white miner is brutally murdered, and the accused is a black miner.
