About the project: As impending parenthood approaches, ever-exhausted Cameron Read must grapple with the flawed idea of masculinity ingrained in him by his abusive father, channeling his energy into building a crib. Rate: Non-Union. Volunteer. Meals/Transportation Covered. Additional information: Shoot Dates: Somewhere between mid June and late July, approx. 7 days of shooting. Lead Role. Kind, but perpetually exhausted and frustrated with himself. As fatherhood approaches, Cameron can't help but worry about his own inadequacy when it comes to "being a man." His idea of masculinity is a distored one, bestowed upon him by his distant abusive father. REQUIRED: Strong dramatic acting ability Comfortability with being filmed shirtless (TBD) Openness to smoking prop cigarettes
Main Supporting Role. Cameron's girlfriend, pregnant with twins. All she wants is for Cameron to do better. She's a hard worker, and a positive person, comes from an orthodox family. She grows increasingly frustrated with Cameron's lack of communication, and his worsening obsession with his own masculinity. REQUIRED: Strong dramatic acting ability. Willingness to wear a 4-month baby bump prosthetic.
Main Supporting Role. Cameron's abusive father. Stoic, tired, and scruffy. A big drinker who used to work in a factory, now confined to a small, lonely life working as a grocery bagger. He feels immense guilt for his actions but has no hope of communicating this. REQUIRED: Strong dramatic acting ability Willingness to play a physical abuser Comfortable with roughing up a young actor when he was in Cameron's life. present day
Supporting Role. Cameron & Monica's family doctor. They were also Cameron's doctor growing up. They deliver information about the pregnancy.
Supporting role. Cheerful hick. He helps Cameron find the hardware that he's looking for.
