About the project: A lyrical, movement-driven drama blending Afro-Colombian Bullerengue traditions, Hip-Hop culture, memory, and magical realism. Set between Queens, NY, Barranquilla, Colombia, and the eternal space between life and death, OLVÍDAME follows a father and daughter reconnecting during the nine nights after his death. Seeking actors with strong emotional range, rhythm, and comfort with heightened theatrical storytelling. This staged reading will be performed by a company of five actors utilizing doubling and ensemble storytelling. Emmanuel’s daughter. Sharp, emotionally raw, funny, observant. A grieving Queens teenager searching for identity, home, and forgiveness.
A dynamic track requiring strong emotional and physical range. Roberto is Emmanuel’s charismatic childhood friend whose life diverges into crime and tragedy. Sol is the embodiment of Emmanuel’s soul and unresolved self. Actor should handle both grounded realism and poetic theatricality.
A spiritually and musically grounded track. Marie is Emmanuel’s late wife and emotional center of the play. Also voices ancestral/spiritual text and doubles as a grieving mother later in the play. Singing/rhythm ability encouraged. Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.
