Teen MalikMale19-25 y.o.African-American

Lead Malik is smart, disciplined, and mature for his age. He comes from a hardworking immigrant family and feels intense pressure to succeed because of the sacrifices his mother made to give him a better life. Unlike his best friend Orrin, Malik believes he can leave their hometown and build a future somewhere bigger, university, career, stability, but the idea of moving forward without Orrin fills him with guilt.

Adult MalikMale25-40 y.o.African-American

Supporting Adult Malik has achieved the kind of life he always dreamed about: career success, financial stability, and a family of his own. From the outside, he appears accomplished and put together. However, beneath that success is lingering guilt and sadness connected to the friendship he left behind. This version of Malik is more reserved and emotionally restrained. The character requires an actor who can communicate regret, longing, and emotional conflict without needing many words.

Teen OrrinMale19-25 y.o.Asian

Lead Orrin is charismatic, funny, impulsive, and impossible to ignore. He uses humor and reckless behavior to hide how deeply insecure he feels about himself and his future. Unlike Malik, Orrin has already convinced himself that he will never escape his hometown or become anything more than what he grew up around. He masks his fear with jokes, but underneath that energy is someone terrified of being abandoned and left behind by the one person who truly understands him (Malik).

Adult OrrinMale25-40 y.o.Asian

Supporting Adult Orrin never escaped the life he feared he would end up in. He still carries the same humor and charm from his younger years, but now it is mixed with exhaustion, insecurity, and disappointment. He avoids responsibility, struggles to move forward in life, and quietly resents feeling stuck while others move on. At the same time, he desperately wants to hold onto the relationships that give his life meaning

MRS. KANGFemale35-55 y.o.Asian

Supporting. Orrin’s mother. A hardworking immigrant parent who is frustrated and worried about her son constantly throwing away opportunities.
