Inside the Kit Kat Club, the Emcee promises a night of music, laughter, and decadence. But outside the club’s doors, a darker reality is taking hold as the world begins to change. Featuring unforgettable songs like “Willkommen,” “Maybe This Time,” and the title number “Cabaret,” this Tony Award–winning musical is by turns dazzling, provocative, and deeply moving. As love stories unfold and tensions rise, the party keeps going… even as the future grows uncertain. Rate: LOA $899 weekly minimum (LOA ref. LORT) Additional info: Audition day break: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Some roles will be understudied. PREPARATION Please prepare 1 short monologue and/or 1 short song in the style of CABARET. Bring sheet music in the key that you plan on singing. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions may not exceed 3 minutes total. Please bring a copy of your headshot and resume stapled together. (Vocal range: High Baritone/Tenor, German accent). The highly sexualized, cynical host of the Kit Kat Klub. He acts as a metaphor for the decadence and corruption of Berlin, ultimately revealing himself as a victim of the Nazis in the finale. Comedic, magnetic and loveable but embraces the dark tendencies of humankind. Strong physicality.
(Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano/belt, British accent). A British singer, desperate for fame, who is flighty and lives in denial of the harsh political reality. She is a talented amateur, not a professional performer.
(Vocal range: Baritone, American accent). An American author coming to Berlin for inspiration. This version makes his bisexual identity explicit, with scenes involving a kiss with one of the cabaret boys.
(Vocal range: Baritone, German accent). A charming German who introduces himself to Cliff on the train. He serves as a fixer, eventually revealed as a committed Nazi party member. and warm but, ultimately, a Nazi.
(Vocal range: Alto, German accent). A pragmatic older woman who runs a boarding house. She seeks security and companionship, ultimately sacrificing her engagement to avoid Nazi persecution.
(Jewish. Vocal range: Baritone, German accent). A Jewish fruit shop owner who courts Fraulein Schneider. He is naive about the dangers of the rise of the Nazi party.
(Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano/strong belt, German accent). A brazen prostitute who lives in Schneider's boarding house and supports the Nazi regime.
