Casting Call for "Gay Soul Food"

Casting "Gay Soul Food," an original play in tribute to the classic 90s film. After performances in DC, the hit show comes to Chicago. Production states: "Cagedbirds Productions affirms the black, LGBTQ+ lived experience on screen and on stage. Through storytelling, we build community and spark conversations about public health issues that affect our people. We’re most known for our hit plays, "When Boys Exhale," "Run Dat Stunt," "The Gay Best Man," and "Gay Love Jones" which have been performed in DC, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, and Houston." Synopsis: A story about the people who feed our soul and the recipe that makes us a family. Follow the Joseph family for a year of holidays, weddings, funerals and reunions. Each gathering brings laughter and joy but also... secrets and betrayals. Will the family point fingers at each other or come together like a fist, to strike a blow? Rehearses Mon. and Thurs. nights beginning on May 28 in NE DC. Note: The cast/crew travels to Chicago on Aug. 12-16 with airfare and lodging covered.. Additional: Pays a flat fee of $500.
