About the project: Come along and listen to the lullaby of Broadway! 42nd Street celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the magic of show biz with wit, humour and pizzazz. At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown, PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? Additional info: Equity (DOT contract) and non-equity. Submission deadline: Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:59pm PST. Callbacks: June 9, 2026. Artists invited to audition will be given music (max 64 bars) for their individual audition. An accompanist will be provided. All auditioning artists will also be asked to attend a dance or movement call (role dependent). Please wear clothes that are easy to move in. For those in the dance call, there will be both a Broadway jazz and tap portion — bring appropriate footwear. Only performers 18 and older at the time rehearsals begin will be considered. Rehearsals begin Saturday, November 7th, 2026. Engagement: Gateway Theatre, Richmond BC — December 9th, 2026 – January 2nd, 2027. (Tenor) The young leading man. He is a real charmer, sweet, and affable. On stage, he is a dazzling triple threat. Strong tap ability required.
(Baritone) Male-presenting. A successful and charismatic Broadway director. Has a lot riding on the success of ‘Pretty Lady”. A perfectionist to a fault. Must be comfortable as a mover. Baritone up to an Ab.
(Alto) Female-presenting. Along with Bert Barry, a comedic duo that is the songwriting team within the show. Knows her way around show-biz. Must move well and be able to play comedy with warmth and charm. Character Alto.
(Baritone). Male-presenting. Along with Maggie Jones, a comedic duo that is the songwriting team within the show. Must sing and move well, and be able to play comedy with vaudeville timing. Must move well. Character baritone.
Character role. Male-presenting. Dorothy Brock’s “sugar daddy” from Oklahoma, a bit of a bully. Must be comfortable as a mover. Ability to sing an asset, but not necessary.
(Baritone) Male-presenting. A vaudeville performer down on his luck, Dorothy Brock’s true love. Must be comfortable as a mover.
Female-presenting. Knows the ropes of showbiz and is no fool. Must have a strong belt and strong tap ability is required.
Female-presenting. Chorus Girl. Sweet and empathetic. Takes Peggy under her wing and shows her the ropes. Strong tap ability is required.
