About the project: After a long battle with a terminal illness, Amy dreams one day of the hotteok she ate in Korea. After hearing about the dream, her daughter Jenny decides to make hotteok herself, hoping to bring back the taste of a forgotten memory for her mother. But as Amy's health continues to decline, Jenny is forced to face the reality that her time with her mother is running out. Rate: Non-paid. Additional info: Non-union. Student production. Submission deadline: Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Audition date: May 23, 2026. Shoot dates: June 6–7, 2026. Shoot location: TBA. As Jenny and Amy are mother and daughter, their relationship will include gentle physical contact that reflects their closeness. After reviewing demo reels and information, sides will be sent out — actors will be asked to record and submit a video of themselves performing the scene. Amy is kind women, Jenny’s mother and a terminally ill patient. Rather than waiting for the end in a cold hospital, she chooses to spend her remaining time at home with Jenny. After a long illness, she has lost her appetite but begins to long for the taste of hotteok she had in Korea. Remembering the hotteok she tasted in a distant country, she tells Jenny about it
Jenny is a responsible and caring daughter who supports Amy. She is deeply conflicted between denying her mother’s approaching death and trying to respect Amy’s belief that death is a natural part of life, and that letting go is the greatest virtue. In the midst of this struggle, Jenny hears Amy talks about the hotteok and decides to make it for her in hopes of bringing that memory back to life.
