Casting Performers for "Gypsy" Play

Female presenting Vocal Range: Mezzo (C#-Eb) Shy and loyal. Since childhood, she is pushed aside by her mother in favor of her sister June, until she herself becomes her mother's new pet project. Able to move well. Minimum actual dance but has very strong movement skills. Portrays both the awkward teen and a sophisticated woman we know now as Gypsy Rose Lee. NOTE: The character is sometimes scantily clad but never actually appears in the nude.

Female presenting Vocal Range: Mezzo belt (Ab-Eb) Plays Baby June as a young teenager. The older she gets, the less she enjoys being her mother's pet project. Dances very well – including tap. Strong Broadway singer, with close harmony skills. NOTE: The ability to do the splits and twirl a baton is a big plus, but not a requirement.

Female presenting Vocal Range: C#-Db Part of a trio of strippers just past their prime. Big Broadway voice (Mezzo Belt), strong movement/dance, ballet training helpful. A burlesque dancer that shares her dressing room with Louise. She was once a ballerina and still has some of the moves. An elegantly, coarse broad who's been around the block. Very funny. Will also be a part of the ensemble as Miss Crachitt (Secretary at Grantziger’s Palace) and other small features.

Female presenting Vocal Range: Bb-D Part of a trio of strippers just past their prime. Big Broadway voice (Mezzo Belt), strong movement/dance. Quieter than her counterparts, but her costume is wired with lights, allowing her to "shine" without working up a sweat. Ditzy and sweet. Will also be part of the ensemble with small features.

Various vocal ranges. Character actors to play multiple featured roles. ENS 1: Uncle Jocko, Mr. Weber, Announcer 2, Phil the Press Agent, etc. ENS 2: Rose’s Father, Mr. Grantziger, Announcer 3, etc. ENS 3: Georgie/Stage Manager, Mr. Goldstone, Announcer 3, etc.

Male presenting Vocal Range: High Baritone Boy-next-door type. Part of “The Farm Boys”. Strives to break out of the troupe with an act of his own. Sings and dances "All I Need Is the Girl." Extremely strong dancer in all styles of dance, including tap. Good singer, charming, very athletic. Will also be part of the ensemble with small features.
