About the project: Sachi, a devoted young woman, cares for her aging Japanese American mother whose dementia is steadily erasing their shared past. Sachi must confront an impossible choice: duty to family and her own future. As memories blur and roles begin to reverse, love is tested in the space between who her mother was and who she is becoming. Tender, intimate and visually meditative, this story offers actors deeply human material grounded in grief, identity and unconditional love. Deeply compassionate yet quietly overwhelmed, Sachi struggles between devotion and the desire to reclaim her independence. This role requires strong internal acting, much of her emotional journey is expressed through silence, physicality and subtle shifts.

Sachi’s mother, living with advanced dementia. Ethel moves between warmth, humor and disorientation, sometimes recognizing her daughter and sometimes not. The role calls for a nuanced performance that captures both vulnerability and dignity, with moments of clarity that carry emotional weight.

ToshiroMale18-28 y.o.Asian

In this role actor will play younger and present day self Sachi’s older brother. Practical, caring, and direct, Toshiro believes placing their mother in a care facility is the best path forward. Though his presence is limited, the role is emotionally significant and requires grounded, natural delivery.
