Do not sing pop or rock music. Please bring your book of music in case you are asked to sing a second selection. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a current picture and resume, stapled together. Dancers: Please come prepared to dance. Dancers auditioning for Male Presenting roles should please bring ballet shoes. Dancers auditioning for Female Presenting roles should please bring both flats (ballet shoes or jazz shoes) and pointe shoes. Please bring a current picture and resume, stapled together. The head flyman of the Opera Populaire. A dark character. Bass baritone; required to sing to E.
Basso buffo with a solid and legitimate low F. A physically interesting character man with a good sense of comedy.
Contralto or low mezzo. Physically interesting character woman.
Tenor. Character role. The repetiteur (vocal coach) of the Opera Populaire. An agitated, finicky, meticulous fellow. A strict disciplinarian, always on the verge of hysteria.
Baritone with top F#. Manservant and sidekick of “Don Juan” in Don Juan Triumphant, one of the operas within the show.
Seeking performers with strong legit musical theatre or opera trained voices to contribute to an operatic choral sound. Sopranos (lyric or coloratura), mezzo sopranos, contraltos, tenors, baritones, or basses. Two of the basses in the chorus must sing to low F. A range of interesting “character” players to play small roles and cover all principals.
Athletic dancers who all must have solid classical technique (with a musical theatre flair) to be part of the Corps de Ballet at the Opera Populaire within the show. Minimum height of 5’10”. Voices are of secondary importance to dance, but with dancers of equal ability their voice could be an advantage and deciding factor.
